Australian Open Tennis Day
This will sell your OSHC out. The Australian Open will be on TV, the Adelaide International will be on during the January school holidays, and this event is the perfect way to bring that Grand Slam energy to your centre. Australian Open Tennis Day turns your space into a mini tennis tournament with six full six-metre-wide portable tennis nets set up side by side, a giant novelty racket that stands as tall as a child, and a full day of tennis games, skill stations and round-robin matches. It can be run inside a gym or outside on bitumen, a hard court or synthetic turf. Kids play in pairs and small teams, rotating through coached activities so nobody sits out for long. Between matches we run a tug-of-war station to keep the energy up, and it can even decide who serves first. Every child gets a certificate, and we award medals for Best Sportsmanship and Best Teamwork so the focus stays on fun and inclusion, not just winning. It is one of our most popular events in January. We run in one, two or three hour blocks with approximately 30 kids per hour, so 60 kids gets two hours and 120 kids gets four.
